The A-Shed Utah Construction Difference

Shed & Detached Garage Building Materials you can trust

Smart Side

Engineered to perform A-SHED storage buildings feature Smart Side siding. Smart Side is a high quality treated engineered wood panel designed to outperform traditional plywood siding. This panel is pretreated with smart guard process, which protects against fungal decay and wood destroying insects and is factory primed and ready to be painted. As a result SmartPanel II siding resists warping, cracking, splitting at the ends, shrinking, and delamination. It comes with a 50 year Manufacturer's warranty. We than wrap this with a product designed specifically for exterior trim. Smart Trim comes factory primed to resist moisture and delamination. It also has a 50 year manufacturer’s warranty

Shop & Compare

A-SHED is very proud of the quality construction and solid craftsmanship of our buildings. We invite you to compare the quality and price with other storage building companies.

Structural Integrity

From the first glance you will see the difference between an A-SHED building and that of the competition. Every building comes standard with 16" on center wall framing, an A-SHED exclusive. A-SHED uses only the highest quality kiln dried 2x4's like the ones you would find in high-end residential homes. No seconds or utility grade 2x4's are used. A-SHED runs a double top plate and a single bottom plate continuous on all four walls.

Sheds with High-Quality Materials

Storage Sheds

Space

When you step into your A-SHED storage building you will immediately feel the difference in the usable space. A-SHED's Regular Ranch walls at 6'9" and Tall Ranch Walls at 7'9" are taller than that of the competition, giving you more space for less money.

Doors

A-SHED's standard door is the best storage building door in the industry. It features a powder coated steel frame that gives it structural integrity all around. Some companies use 2x4's that can warp, and others piece together metal sticks and sheet both sides of the frame. This can leave the door susceptible to warping and can be too much weight for the hinges to handle. A-SHED's 4' wide by 6'2 tall opening, is larger than that of our competitors, and matched to our customers needs. A-SHED also offers the best lockset available. It’s commercial grade stainless steel that you can have keyed to match your house key. Not made of plastic like the other companies.

Roof

A-SHED protects your building with engineered 7/16 OSB sheeting. This ensures consistent strength in your roof, without the soft spots and warping that can occur with plywood. Metal drip edge is then wrapped around the roof to help keep out the weather. The OSB panels are then layered with 30 year architectural shingles over roofing felt to seal out the moisture.

Garages

Custom-Built Detached Garages for North Salt Lake Utah

Foundation

A-SHED garages are normally installed on a monolithic concrete foundation. This consists of a 12x18 footing around the perimeter and a 4” floor. The footings have (2) #4 Rebar. In some cases, such as attached garages and out of level areas, a 3-pour is used. This 3-pour is not included in the standard prices and is an upgrade. A 3-pour generally consists of a 10x20 footing then a 8”x2’-4” foundation wall. Then a floor is poured generally with a slight slope for drainage.

Agricultural and Rural Property Storage Needs

In rural Utah regions storage sheds are essential utility structures. Hobby farms rely on sheds for feed storage, tack rooms, and equipment protection, helping maintain clean and organized working environments. Proper storage also reduces spoilage, pest exposure, and weather-related wear on tools.

Orchards, gardens, and small agricultural operations use sheds as centralized hubs for irrigation components, tillers, harvest bins, and maintenance supplies. Having these materials protected and easily accessible improves operational efficiency and extends equipment lifespan, especially in areas with significant seasonal weather variation.

Customer Responsibilities

When investing in a custom shed, size and layout are two of the most important factors. A-Shed Utah offers complete flexibility in designing your shed’s dimensions, ensuring it fits seamlessly into your yard and meets your specific storage or functional needs.

  1. Provide adequate working space: Please allow at least an 18” wide work area around the entire building. It should be situated away from power utility lines. Drainage away from your storage building will add many years to its use and your satisfaction.
  2. Make sure that the entire site is level: A truly level site will result in the maximum amount of ground contact, thus transferring an equal distribution of weight and eliminating future settling and an uneven floor. Ensuring that the site is level will facilitate a trouble-free build and avoid additional expenses or excavation. Remember: it is always better to remove soil rather than add.
  3. Provide the following papers: before the scheduled construction date.

Permits, zoning or covenant searches. Engineering plans for these permits are available from A-SHED at nominal fees. Electrical power - 110 VAC 20 Amp grounded outlet within 100 feet of the building site.
